Big Figs,
Thinking of ways to improve your time management? Want to have more time for relaxation and visiting with family and friends during the upcoming Christmas break? Then this article is custom ordered just for you!
Holidays are supposed to be a time to relax and drink eggnog, meet with your old friends from high school, and visit family -- but, as you have probably noticed during your college years, Christmas break can be a bit too short.
One way to increase your quality time with friends and family -- or maybe just to give you the extra napping time that you've been depriving yourself of during this stressful semester -- is to make a list of the important things you have to do.
Focus on getting one or two things done per day, and schedule your time so that you get these important things done early, making the rest of your day (or week) free to relax, sleep, visit with friends, smoke some eggnog, or get to that fashionable party that you're expected to make an appearance at this weekend. Notice that the skill of time management also applies to other times of the year besides Christmas!
Planning ahead and making a list of important 'things-to-do' will return remarkable savings in both your energy levels AND the amount of time you have each day.
Another easy way to illustrate planning ahead is to start your Christmas shopping at the end of October, and plan to have it finished before Thanksgiving! Some people I know start even earlier in the year. In fact, I personally started my Christmas shopping at the end of September and have only 2 more gifts to buy.
It can't be overstated, the amount of stress and aggravation you will save yourself by getting your Christmas shopping completed - one or even two months BEFORE the holidays arrive - are enormous. Think of the lines, the traffic, and not to mention how businesses bump up prices during the holidays simply to accommodate our holiday spending habits.
Planning ahead is the key to having plenty of well deserved time for fun and relaxation! Make a list of the 10 most important things you need to get done (or people you need to see, or whatever) during the upcoming holiday, next semester, or during your next visit back home; make a schedule; and make plenty of time to relax, see a movie, visit family, or chat with an old friend.
Enjoy the holidays, have a smoother time getting things done next semester,
and enjoy life ...
So, Relax!
